  • Research: We develop, support and contribute to clinical, fundamental and translational research

Our core values

Our 6 core values are very closely linked and are important in our decision-making as a team.

Safety: The team ensures that the risk of physical and/or psychological damage to the child is kept to an absolute minimum. To achieve this goal, standardized and protocolled care is essential. In addition, the team is very aware of mutual communication and cooperation with each other, the patient and the parents/caregivers. In order to bring permanent improvements to our work processes, incidents are reported, assessed and processes are adjusted. Through continuous training and testing of healthcare personnel, everyone is authorized and competent in their area of expertise.

Quality: We stand for high-quality healthcare that is accessible to everyone. The high quality is characteristic of every part of our healthcare chain. Quality is a continuous process in which research and innovation play an important role.

Family-oriented approach: The bond between the child and its parents/caregivers is very important. Our team encourages the active participation of parents/caregivers during admission.

Collaboration: As a team we realize that collaboration is essential for delivering quality care. Therefore, we work well with colleagues within and outside pediatrics, opt for low-threshold consultations and ask for help if necessary. As a team we are there for each other, we pay attention to each other’s physical and mental health and we stimulate strong home situations. Together we are stronger.

Customer-friendliness: As a team we stand for customer-friendliness. With this we indicate that:

-as a team we are driven, flexible, patient, honest and respectful caregivers.

-we are understanding towards our patients, clients, parents and caregivers.

-we give high priority to the satisfaction of everyone who comes to our department.

-we consider the needs and feelings of our clients.

Research and education: we invest in research and education, thereby striving to improve medical and social decision-making for the health, protection and development of all children in Suriname.
